Too long drive from Prescott to Zion

Ground is staring to turn into multi colors after South Arizonas pale brown.

Crossing Colorado river at Marble Canyon on the East end. When heading north from Phoenix there are not that many routes to cross the river and lot of land between the options.

Nothing to complain about the roads most of the way. But Highway Patrol is EVERY WHERE!!!! Thank Goodness Im here with the truck and not with my car .. haha!!!!!

It was a long day and every time I promise that never again I will plan such a long day drive.

The dogs do great, nothing wrong with that but I get tired more than Ian as he is very experienced in driving long distances when for me it’s been 35 years, REALLY wanting to shorten the transfer days to 250-300 miles.. and that IS a full day program. Ian drives the Van and tows the boat and I drive the truck with the kids and we usually get to our destination within 30 min from each other so after all it all works well but it is too long of a day!!! ;)

We always run Rhona and take Kaya for long walk in the morning before we leave for long drive. Half their morning food amount as lying around is not nice on full belly and try to stop for quick walk every 2 hours. In Flagstaff there is a Bark Master dog park on 17 hwy and 40 hwy split that we have used few times now, last time on our way to Moab. Other than that there really are not many ways of getting anything else done with dogs than pee break. On Hwy stops one is not allowed to take dogs to toilets but.. I always do.. ups… car is too hot and not leaving them alone outside of the building. We are very lucky that our dogs have always loved the car as it takes them to fun places and not only to the vet ;) we have their beds laid out and cotton blanket on them as synthetic fabric is terrible in these dry climates.

I would not do this drive during summer heat just incase something does not go according to the plan, it was 85F and 20% humidity during the whole drive and no shoulder to pull up to .. not a place to wait for AAA hours!

PS. Fuel is cheaper in AZ than Utah! I paid $2.94 per gallon in AZ.. ho humm… when it’s $4.69 in San Diego

Now chilling a week in Virgin @ Zion River Resort RV park. It’s’ nice to have AC and my little humidifier running during day and night. I don’t care what you say but living in 25-30% humidity is not for me and we all breathe better with little water in the air ;)

Rhona has gotten the idea!!!
