Bryce Canyon.. we like!!!
Yes the white stuff is snow.. altitude is +9000 ft
We love this place.. Tons more to do in and out of the National Park. Less people. More adventure minded people and a lot smaller operation than Zion.
One of the million pics of red rock.. ha ha
We are staying in Bryce Canyon Pines RV park between Red Canyon and Bryce Canyon.
Red Canyon is the first thing that you will drive through before arriving to Bryce Canyon area. It is DOG FRIENDLY area. You can bring kids to the trails and hikes!!!
Easy trails to ride but you can find technical ones as well, but I would not know about those!! There are great bike paths all over and tons of elevation to suffer on road bike.
Trail running with Rhona
Good for both of us. Doing just few mile runs as we are up in 8000ft and humidity is around 30%.
Camel Pack is the best and easiest way of carrying vitals for us. Rhona’s water bottle and rescue sling for Rhona so that I can carry her out if she gets hurt!!
Hoodoos.. they call them! Formed by ice and water.
First day we visited the Bryce Canyon we drove the ridge road that runs 18 miles north south. Rainbow Point (elevation 9115ft) is the most South point of the National Park and has amazing view towards north and east side of the ridge where all “the stuff “in the pics are.
Pic from Rainbow Point towards north
I was feeling the elevation and we bunny hopped most of the view points back towards north of the park. Dogs are not allowed off the paved paths and areas.
Kids found if a bit boring as lizards were not around yet
Bryce Point
Ebenezer Bryce, Scottish Mormon immigrant was send here 1875 to help Later Day Saints establish a colony. He build a 7 mile long irrigation system and a road here before moving on to Arizona. The locals named this area after him later on.
I did the Peekaboo Loop Trail a day later. Started from Sunset Point, the trail was super busy for first mile but by the time I hit the Peekaboo loop there were very few people hiking, the trails are great and easy to walk on. It is proper hiking and the elevation will affect your performance!!!! My total milage was 5 and I was tired after ;)
There was some serious climbing and down hill sections
Would definitely come and spend some time..there are some hotels in Bryce Canyon town close to the shuttle starting point. I would stay at least 3 days as it is not close to anything else than Zion. It’s cooler climate than Zion Canyon and at least now in April A LOT MORE QUIET than Zion. Weather is a factor here so be prepared. All hikes are good for little older kids.
